Getting your social media off and running is a great accomplishment, but what if you’re not ready? What if you are missing some effective and compelling branding and where does that even come from? Many entrepreneurs are told that you are selling yourself to potential customers. So developing a brand that is authentic and reflects you and your business accurately is crucial.
So what are the factors that contribute to an authentic brand? Forbes contributor Meghan Brio has some pointers that we think give you some great advice.
First and foremost, be honest. Compromising your values never leads to a genuine connection with your business or your customers.
Secondly, have fun! Remember that you started your business because you are passionate about it. It might be easy to lose sight of that in the day to day minutia and stress of owning your own business, but don’t forget about all of the things that made you want to do what you do in the first place. Make sure you don’t burn yourself out, and take care of yourself. If you are having fun doing your job, are happy, confident and relaxed, others will flock to you and your business.
And lastly, understand yourself and all aspects of your business. Knowing yourself well, including your strengths and weaknesses will help you develop an achievable business plan. Take that one step further and know what your goals are. Having a vision for your business will make developing a career path and developing your business more attainable.
With all of these elements in place you can create a business plan and marketing strategy that reflects a genuine you that will connect you to your customers.
