This past weekend our very own Queen Bee prepared for the arrival of 4 queens and 40,000 honey bees. Now this was quite the undertaking as we are officially established the Bumblebee Personal Assistants Apiary in Roseville, MN.
We started with clear plot of land that would allow for 4 hives to be placed 6 feet apart from each other. Each hive had a pedastool made of 2 – 12″ cement blocks that allow for ventilation and proection from splash back from rain. There are several gardens, a forrest and water in the immdiate area so the bees will have a good start to the season.
We painstakingly made sure the cements blocks were level for the hives. We made sure that the hives will be in the right amount of sun and shade throughout the day.We start the season with 2 Deep Super (boxes) for Brood (baby bees).
After about 3 days the bees will be get settled in and acclimated to their new hive.
Here is the Bumblebee Personal Assistants Apiary set up and ready for the bees!
